Poinsettias are such a recognizable sign of Christmas and so fun to use as decoration. I couldn’t help but create a layered mandala version of a poinsettia.

This design can be used in so many projects. I plan to stick a few in my Christmas tree (if I ever find time to put it up). I will also make a few more and place them on plates as part of my Christmas place settings.

I don’t mind if you use these designs for personal or small business commercial use up to 200 items, but please do not re-sell or re-distribute the files. I’d ask that you direct your crafty friends here to download the files themselves.  Also, I don’t allow my designs to be used in print-on-demand shops or on transfers that will be sold. HOW TO CUT AND ASSEMBLE THE MANDALA POINSETTIA

Once you’ve downloaded the free design from my freebie vault, Unzip the download folder, then upload the SVG formatted file to Cricut Design Space. If you need help with this process, click here to learn more.

I cut the poinsettia in the photos at 7.657″x7.769″ so that I could fit it on 8.5″x11″ paper. If you’d like to resize your flower, I recommend leaving the entire design grouped while resizing so that all layers stay in the correct size proportions.

For my project, I used Recollections regular 65lb. cardstock and Recollections foil cardstock. The package of the foil doesn’t indicate weight. I’ve found that the 65lb. cuts well on a light blue mat using the Light Cardstock setting on my Maker. To cut the foil cardstock, I also used a light blue mat but changed the setting to Medium Cardstock to cut.

Use a brayer to firmly attach red paper to Criut Mat

Use a brayer when placing the paper on the mat will greatly reduce the amount of tearing and help keep your cuts cleaner.

Remove paper from Cricut mat by turning upside down and gently bend mat away from paper

To remove cardstock from the mat once cut, flip the paper and mat over and place on your work surface. Gently bend the mat back and while keeping the paper as flat to the desk as possible.

Once the pieces were all cut, I used spray adhesive to attach the intricate layers to the solid layers.

To add space and dimension between the layers, I adhered each group with foam tabs.

Repeat the process with the top layer of the flower using more of the Foam Tabs. I then added the little yellow/gold part this same way.

That’s it! A quick, yet beautiful project to decorate your home or packages this Christmas.

    1. Hi Barb, The Poinsettia is under design #111 in my Freebie vault. Can you tell me more about what won’t work so that I can help you?

      1. Hello, my download doesn’t have an software file. So it load only as a print then cut file on cricut.

        1. Hi Stephanie,
I include SVG with all my designs. Most likely, you’re on a Windows computer and the SVG may be showing as an HTML document. You can change the setting on the “view” tab so that you’ll be able to see the file extension. If that doesn’t help, let me know.

  3. I love Poinsettias but have cats: so never get to have them in the house. However with your project I now can. Thank you so very much. Think I will make a whole wall of white ones.

  4. I love this design and want to make it but I wrote the password in the famous “place where it won’t get lost” and guess what… it’s lost! I already get your newsletter and love it. Do I need to join again to get the password?
    Thank you!

    1. Hi Janet,
Your comment made me chuckle. Sounds exactly like something I’d do. If you have one of my emails, you’ll find it on the bottom of each one. Alternately, you can sign up again, you’ll still only be on my email list once, but it will trigger the password being sent to you again.
