My youngest daughter is the reason that I first purchased my Cricut machine. She wanted me to make her shirt and things for her friends. As soon as I created that very first project, I was hooked. When I decided to open an Etsy store with designs a couple of years ago and had to come up with a business name, she was the inspiration behind that name. Special Heart Studio was born out of the inspiration of my daughter, who is the whole reason I originally bought my Cricut. When she mentioned this afternoon that I should make a heart in this style that has been so popular, I couldn’t say no.

I don’t mind if you use these designs for personal or small business commercial use up to 200 items, but please do not re-sell or re-distribute the files. I’d ask that you direct your crafty friends here to download the files themselves.  Also, I don’t allow my designs to be used in print-on-demand shops or on transfers that will be sold. Cutting and Assembly Tips for A 3D Layered Mandala

This design is available in SVG format. The heart has six layers as designed. Feel free to use as many or as few of the layers as would work with your project. The top layer of this project is delicate, so a bit of a challenge both to cut and remove from that mat. In the above photo, I sized the project at 8 inches tall and cut on 8.5″x11′ cardstock. I would suggest using the intricate cardstock setting in Cricut Design Space. When assembling the heart, I used spray glue to attach the top layer to the second layer. All other layers were attached with foam tabs. If you’re looking for more detailed assembly directions, please refer to this layered mandala post, which includes a video for both Cricut and Silhouette users.

Check the list of materials below to find the materials used for the 3D layered floral heart.

  • 65lb. Cardstock – I used Recollections Brand Cardstock Pink Buttons multipack along with a sheet of Recollections Shimmer White
  • Kraft Board – Optional for Easel Stand.
  • Foam tabs or tape – These Tombow foam tabs are my favorite. They’re a bit thicker than others I’ve used so the heart has more dimension.
  • Spray adhesive glue
  • Light grip mat (blue)
  • Cricut Maker – or your favorite cutting machine
  • Design #49 – Layered Floral Heart and Easel Stand SVG – My free SVG cut file (available in my freebie vault—get the password at the bottom of this post).

The Layered Floral Heart pairs perfectly with my Layered Alphabet set. Cutting and assembly will be the same as the alphabet set too!

Matching Easel Stand

Once you’ve assembled the heart, it looks great propped up on the Easel stand. It can also be used in a shadowbox, on a card, and in many other ways.

The Easel Stand file has been saved in two formats. One with a score line already attached and ready to go for the fold and the other with a perforated cut line so that a scoring stylus or scoring wheel is not needed. I’ve labeled the file names as shown below for easy identification in the download folder.

Side by side on the Easel Stands. The Layered Geometric Heart can be found HERE.

To size the easel stand. I recommend making the easel 1 inch less (while still grouped with the crossbar) than the height of the heart. In the example above, the heart is 7″ in height and the stand still grouped with the crossbar is 6″ high.

      1. File #49 is a layered heart, but not the floral layered heart! I really want to make the floral part that goes with the geometric layered heart! Please check and find the file number?

        1. Hi Tracy,

I’m a bit confused by your comments so I downloaded #49 myself just to double-check I didn’t mess it up. #49 is the Layered Floral Heart that I designed. It coordinates with the newer Geometric Layered Heart that is design #117.

          1. Finally! Yes! It worked. Honestly, I have been trying for days to find this file! I got the other layered hearts, and the geometric heart. It worked this time! Thank you for your response! I can’t wait to do this awesome design!

    1. I annot get it to download either. I click the file name and it just goes to another page, no donload:(

      1. Hi Adona, All of my downloads are the very first link following the design number. The second link on the line will take you back to the post about the project. Let me know if you need help.

    1. Hello! I didn’t make a video specifically for the heart, but the heart was an addition to my Layered Floral Mandala Alphabet. I do have videos for both Cricut and Silhouette users for the alphabet and the heart can be made the same exact way. You’ll find the videos on my YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/c/SpecialHeartStudio

or directly on my blog post about the Floral Layered Alphabet. https://specialheartstudio.com/free-layered-alpha-mandala-svg-set/

  2. Hi there! I absolutely love the Floral Layered Heart!! This is my first attempt at 3D Mandalas so I was so happy to find one that was not only gorgeous but free too!!! Can you check the 2nd to last layer? I made it twice and feel like it’s missing one cut out on the top closest to flowers.

    1. Hi Melissa,
I think I see the area you’re referring to. Unfortunately, that spot is too small to leave the cutout and keep the same distance between layers as the rest. It’s just how the design came out.

  3. There is no cut file for #49. I have tried to download several times, and keep getting the same blog post…no SVG cut file.

    1. Hi Deb,
The download is the very first link following the #49. It will automatically download to your download folder. The second link will take you back to the blog post in case you need instructions.

  4. Help! If this is discussed some where I am not seeing it. I want to make the Layered Heart Mandala at a smaller size. So that means I need to make the stand smaller. How do I resize the stand in proportions to the heart, without repeatedly cutting different sizes of the stand (and wasting paper) trying each one of cuts, until one of the cuts work? Thank you!

    1. Hi April. Great question. I’ve added a photo to the post now. My recommendation is to size the easel stand (while grouped with the crossbar) one inch less than the heart. Hope this helps.

  5. I finally finished your layered angel with the lights and it came out great! My first attempt at layered cardstock and I
am very pleased. Thank you for creating these beautiful designs!
