My youngest daughter is the reason that I first purchased my Cricut machine. She wanted me to make her shirt and things for her friends. As soon as I created that very first project, I was hooked. When I decided to open an Etsy store with designs a couple of years ago and had to come up with a business name, she was the inspiration behind that name. Special Heart Studio was born out of the inspiration of my daughter, who is the whole reason I originally bought my Cricut. When she mentioned this afternoon that I should make a heart in this style that has been so popular, I couldn’t say no.

CUTTING AND ASSEMBLY TIPS FOR 3D LAYERED HEART MANDALA
This design is available in SVG and DXF formats. The heart has six layers as designed. Feel free to use as many or few of the layers as would work with your project. The top layer of this project is delicate, so a bit of a challenge both to cut and remove from that mat. In the above photo, I sized the project at 8 inches tall and cut on 8.5″x11′ cardstock. I would suggest using the intricate cardstock setting in Cricut Design Space. When assembling the heart, I used spray glue to attach the top layer to the second layer. All other layers were attached with foam tabs. If you’re looking for more detailed assembly directions, please refer to this layered mandala post, which includes a video.

MATERIALS TO MAKE 3D LAYERED FLORAL HEART MANDALA
- 65lb. Cardstock – I used Recollections Brand Cardstock Pink Buttons multipack along with a sheet of Recollections Shimmer White
- Foam tabs or tape – These Tombow foam tabs are my favorite. They’re a bit thicker than others I’ve used so the heart has more dimension.
- Spray adhesive glue
- Light grip mat (blue)
- Cricut Maker – or your favorite cutting machine
